They were refugees and optimists. Pioneers, gamblers, cowboys, artists, entrepreneurs. People eager for opportunity. For more than 350 years, Jews have lived the American dream - embracing freedom with all its choices and challenges - as they shaped, and were shaped by, our nation.
There's never been a better time to tell their story. Never been an institution quite like the one that is now under way on Philadelphia's Independence Mall, steps from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Slated to open on July 4, 2010, the National Museum of American Jewish History is a unique, decidedly bold new venture - a place where stories will take lasting hold.
